March Challenge

I can’t believe it is March already!!! WOW!
March makes me think green.
Green grass starting to show.
Green because of St Patty’s Day.
St. Patty’s Day means McDonald’s has their yummy Shamrock Shakes!
So glad they only come out once a year! lol

March also makes me think of my birthday! I don’t get quite as excited about them as I use to. I wonder why. lol I mean I’m quite happy and grateful to be around and get the chance to celebrate another birthday. But that darn number just keeps getting bigger and bigger. ugh. I’m not going to continue with that or we’ll all be sitting here crying into our beverage of choice. Or at least I will be.

Anyway, moving on…

I thought with March being my birthday month, I’d make the challenge something I love to do! And what would that be? Gel Printing of course! So for the month of March we’ll do a gel printing challenge where every day we have a new prompt. I know this has been done by others, many times. But I have never hosted one. And it’s my birthday month so I can do whatever I want and I want a gel printing challenge. (Can’t you just picture me stomping my feet?) lol

Okay so along with gel printing I also love Collage!!! Now you don’t have to do this, just the gel printing part is challenge enough. But I am going to take it one step further and collage on top of my gel prints!!!

THEN to incorporate one more thing I love, when the challenge is complete, I am going to take my pages and make them into a Mini Album!!! YAY!

The more I think about it the more excited I get!

Oooh I just thought of something! I may use some of those Creative Peeps from our very first challenge for the collage part! How fun!!!

So would you like to hear the prompts?

You can interpret these prompts however you want. For example, the paintbrush, you can use a paint brush on your gel plate to apply a medium or for texture; or you can use an image of a paint brush in the form of a stencil or stamp!

I do realize not everybody has a gel plate. You can just work directly on a piece of paper with the prompts. I have also heard of people using a piece of glass/hard plastic in place of the gel plate. The whole idea is getting ‘prints’ right? So don’t stress about it and have fun with the challenge!

Here is what I plan to do for the challenge:

  • use a 6” X 6” Gel Press Plate

  • cut Mixed Media Paper down to 5 1/2” X 5 1/2”. 31 pieces in total, to be prepared. I would have done 6” X 6” pieces of paper but I can get more from one sheet with 5 1/2”.

  • only going to print on one side of the paper. This will make it easier and give me more options for making the pages into a mini album.

  • collage on top of my prints using images from anywhere I wish. Also going to use Creative Peeps from our first challenge.

  • have fun!

I am going to try and record every day and post the gel printing part on my Instagram as a quick little reel. Then post the making of the whole page on my YouTube Channel. I will create a Playlist for it. I can’t link that yet as I haven’t started. When I do I will try and remember to come back and link it here.

If I find recording the process and sharing the videos too much work and sucking the joy out of the challenge, I will stop recording. Sorry, but this needs to be fun! Otherwise, what’s the point!

I do hope you join the challenge. If you have any questions just leave them down in the comments below!!! I hope you’re as excited as I am!!!
